NEET UG 2025: MCC Releases Seat Matrix, Choice Filling for Round 1 Counselling

In a significant update for NEET UG 2025 aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially released the seat matrix for the first round of All India Quota (AIQ) online counseling for MBBS and BDS courses. With this, the choice filling process has also commenced and will continue until 28th July 2025.

 

Detailed Seat Matrix for MBBS & BDS

As per the MCC data released on the official website www.mcc.nic.in, the seat matrix includes a wide array of medical and dental colleges across India:

 

MBBS Seats:

  • Government Medical Colleges (AIQ): 11,798 seats
  • Deemed Universities: 10,649 seats
  • Includes 1,900 MBBS seats of AIIMS
  • 1,234 MBBS seats under NRI quota
  • 9,415 seats under general deemed quota

 

BDS Seats:

  • Government Dental Colleges: 778 seats
  • Deemed Universities: 3,290 seats
  • Includes 3,183 seats in general quota
  • 107 BDS seats under NRI quota

 

 Special University Allocations:

  • Banaras Hindu University (BHU): 100 MBBS, 63 BDS seats
  • Aligarh Muslim University (AMU): 150 MBBS, 50 BDS seats
  • JIPMER (Puducherry & Karaikal): 179 MBBS seats
  • Delhi University (DU) & IP University (Internal Quota): 764 MBBS and 95 BDS seats
  • ESIC Medical Colleges: 446 MBBS and 28 BDS seats (reserved for ESI card holders’ children)
  • Choice Filling Open Till 28 July

With the release of the seat matrix, the choice filling portal is now active from 22 July to 28 July. Candidates must choose their preferences wisely, keeping in mind:

 

  • College reputation
  • Fee structure
  • Location
  • Reservation categories

 

 Important Tip: Fill all desired options in the correct order of preference and lock the choices before 11:55 PM on 28 July. If you fail to lock, your choices will be auto-locked.

 

First Round Timeline

  • Choice Filling & Locking: 22 – 28 July 2025 (Locking window: 4 PM – 11:55 PM)
  • Seat Allotment Result: 31 July 2025
  • Reporting to Allotted College: 1 – 6 August 2025
  • Carry original documents, two sets of self-attested copies, and admission fees

 

Free Exit Option

Since this is the first round, MCC allows a free exit. Candidates can choose to not report to their allotted college without any penalty. However, if satisfied, they can join and inform the admission authority to not participate in further rounds.

 

 Academic Session Starts 1st September

According to the National Medical Commission's schedule, the 2025–26 MBBS/BDS academic session is set to commence on 1st September 2025.
