JEE Advanced 2025: IIT Kanpur Releasesd Required Documents for Dropout Candidates Eligible for Third Attempt

Published on: January 28, 2025

On November 5, 2024, IIT Kanpur, the organizing body of JEE Advanced 2025, announced that the number of attempts for JEE Advanced would be increased from two to three. Because of this announcement, many B.Tech students dropped out of their engineering colleges, hoping to take advantage of the extra attempt. However, on November 18, 2024, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) changed its decision and reduced the number of attempts back to two. This sudden change left many students in a difficult situation. They had already left their colleges but now had only two attempts instead of the expected three. Feeling helpless, these students approached the Supreme Court for help, asking for a chance to appear in JEE Advanced 2025.

As per the recent order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India (related to Writ Petition Nos. 854/2024 and 17/2025) dated 10 January 2025, a special opportunity has been provided for certain students to register for JEE Advanced 2025.
